What’s Wrong Here?

Study the photo below of Lindsey Valenzuela performing the power clean.  The weight on bar is 185#.  From an Olympic weightlifting standpoint, what is incorrect with her technique here?  

I’m not suggesting that Lindsey is anything short of a great athlete and awesome lifter, but this photo is not an accurate depiction of how she would actually clean this weight.  

Test out your Olympic weightlifting knowledge and post your thoughts on what’s wrong with this picture to the comments.  The person that submits the correct answer first will get to choose the WOD for one of the classes next week.  


Intermediate and Power Hour

Part 1:

Back squat

5 reps at 75% of your 1 rep max

3 reps at 85% of your 1 rep max

1+ reps at 95% of your 1 rep max 

1+ means do at least 1 rep but more if you can without going to failure

Part 2:

6 minute AMRAP of:

7 burpees

7 dumbbell push presses (50# for men/30# for women)

Part 3:

Sled fun!

10 minute AMRAP of:

7 back squats

6 dumbbell push presses

5 push-ups
