CrossFit Kicks Part Deux

You probably know by now that CrossFitters are into their shoes.  Running shoes, weightlifting shoes, general workout kicks, etc.  I’m partial to my Inov-8s, Rogue Do-Wins, and Chucks.  Please read here for more details on these shoes. 

Now that Reebok is an official sponsor of the CrossFit Games, they have designed shoes specifically for CrossFitters.  And here they are:

These shoes combine the low heel that you see in the Invo-8s, which make them decent for squatting and good for pose running.  The mesh material makes them breathable and light.  Finally, they have a ‘U-Form’ feature which means you can bake them in the oven or use a hair dryer to heat them up, put them on, and watch as the shoes mold to the contours of your feet.  Gimmicky, perhaps, but to each his own.  As far as the colors, I could do without the Big Bird yellow.

Reebok’s weightlifting shoe looks first rate.  The have the raised heel of a traditional olympic weightlifting shoe, but the forefoot is light and flexible to allow CrossFitters to use them for box jumps and double-unders, movements where a traditional weightlifting shoe is too clunky. 

Time will tell whether or not the community will embrace these shoes which are supposed to hit the stores this fall. 

Monday’s Skill:


3 – 3 – 3 – 3 -3

Workout of the Day (WOD):

7 minute AMRAP (as many rounds as possible) of:

7 front squats (115/75# for women)

14 toes to bar

21 double-unders

Rest 3 minutes

Then complete the same number of rounds and reps you did in the AMRAP for time.  The goal is to complete this portion in under 7 minutes.
